I have never heard about this exploit before, anyone else have any news about it?

That artical isn't really an exploit, it's a fix MS installs on your xbox in order to stop the current exploits from running. The curret exploits allow you to run backuped games, homebrew software, and linux on almost any xbox, without the need of a modchip. MS's new plan is called xbl 2.0. It fixes the bugs, but also give you the ability to talk to anyone on your buddy list that is online, no matter what game they are playing. Same for them.

Actually, people have only been able to run Linux using this patch, not copied games. You cant run just anything using this exploit.

I think we are both confusing each other here. I meant that that link u posted, lead to an artical for a patch that microsoft made to block linux and other unsigned code from running. It isn't an exploit, but rather stating that it blocked the exploits.

This socalled "bug patch" does nothing but fix an exploit that lets you run Linux. And most annoyingly, it does it WITHOUT ANY WARNING OR NOTIFICATION.

This isnt really much of a bug, since you can only use it to run Linux, its bovious they just want to try to keep their system as propitery as they can, the fact that they dont even warn you about this is a big indicator of that.

yah, i know. sucks alot, but also fixed the font exploit that was used to start an app called phenix bios loader, which loaded hacked bios off the HDD, letting u run backups and other unsigned code.

Oh........ I guess that is a good reason then

I had heard that it can only run Linux using that exploit, not hacked bioses and other such files.

well, I think the savegame exploit is still working, not sure though. It lets you boot evox (or other apps), which could still allow u to play homebrewn apps or backups of games.

Does Linux still work after the patch? If you can still boot everything EXCEPT linux........... then thats not only a very crappy patch but also a huge blow to MS, since itll be made obvious they only wanted to stop linux from booting instead of caring to patch a problem, that sure wont look good to report.

well, the thing is that they cannot patch the save game. U boot the save off a memory card so they cannot remove or delete it, and the glitch is in the game is not easily patched.

The other exploits were set up so that you didn't have to load up the game disk then load the save everytime you wanted to load up linux or other apps. This can be time consuming and very annoying.

I just read xbox linux, and it says that this patch will delete linux from xbox!
