okay a little while back I said I got evox to run on my buddy's box? Welll I was wrong. I got the cd to read just write, no problem there but I didn't get a chance to put it in. i figured hell it was easy enough......well now I've got egg on my face and it's 5:16am. The evox boot disc boots up but for some reason flashfxp won;t connect the box and the pc. I'm using a crossover cable (I'm sure of it cuz it's how I ripped my games with my old xbox). I've put in a sperate network card and set it to IP 192.168.0.1 subnet mask is 255.255.255.0. I honestly can't figure out what is wrong and now I;ve got like 3 copies of evoX sitting around my desk as I sit here scratchin my head. Any suggestions and help would be greatly appreicated. And as a side note I have read thru evoX for dummies in search of my error and I can't find it.

you have a static IP set on your xbox, right?
This (http://www.geocities.com/xbox_beyond/install2.htm) tutorial might help if you can't figure it out. It's a way to install evolutionX (or anything really...) with boXplorer (and a cd/dvd burner).

192.168.0.1 is usually used on a private network running DHCP. I would make sure this address isn't trying to be used by the Xbox AND the router since it is typically the router's interface address. If so, change the last digit of the box to something higher and get your eggs off your face! :p

the xbox was set to 192.168.0.3 so my Ip shouldn;t be interfering with it. I mean I've done this like fifty times with my old xbox. Anyway I'm gonna try doing it with boxplorer and I think that should work.

Have you try older version of Evox????and what's OS do you use on your PC??? if you using w/98 you probably neet Netbios to communicate with the Xbox...
and if you use older verison of Evox, when you go to setting ( NetworK) on your xbox not in static mode its should automatic assign you IP address in your xbox(but got to wait like 10-20 sec for its to show up), then just go to Network properties in your computer and change the last digit to something difference (work for me ):D
also if you using XP version, when you connect the cross over cable to your pc - xbox, the icon should appear like its connecting, if its appear to be red X than probably not software issue but hardware..
