Just downloaded a trial copy of CloneCD 4. Wanted to play some games without having to use the game CD every time. Got stuck when following the very limited instructions for "virtual clone drive", then came here for advice. Think another post may have solved it for me - it said you must create an "image" folder on your hard drive and then "mount" the image into/onto a virtual drive, right?
Also, once a game is "mounted" can it just stay there, even if I re-boot the computer?
Finally, how can they charge $40 for software that does not include step-by-step instructions? Although I have used computers for about 3 years now, the correct procedure was definitely NOT self-evident to me. Is there another "clone" program that works well and has easy to follow instructions for all its features?

Alcohol 120% is another program like Clone CD - only better in some people's opinions.
There is an option in Alcohol to keep the image file mounted even after reboot - not sure if Clone CD has the same option (but have a look around the options in case it does.)
Alcohol in trial version will allow you six virtual drives, and when registered will allow about 31 virtual drives.

Thanks for the info. Will check out Alcohol 120 !

If these programs don't let a game stay "mounted" in/on a virtual drive, that means it has to re-load each time. And that means you may as well put in the CD and play in the usual way, yes?

Alcohol does have the option to keep the image mounted even after reboot. So when you mount the image you dont have to worry about it until you come to unmount it.
