ps2 crapped out [Archive]

long time no post, but my ps2 was working a few days ago, now i can't get past the browser screen and it won't load ANY games original or copied, i don't get disk read error or anything, it just freezes, what is going on?

ver 4 ps2, w/ magic 3.1

Try a cleaning disc.

Gently use a q-tip and maybe a good hard blow or two on the lense.

how do i open it up? is there a place that has instructions? also how hard is it to change out the laser yourself? because if it isn't hard i will feel comfortable doing it...

From what I have heard it isn't too dificult to change the laser. Here (http://www.modchip.ca/install/ps2/general/apartv456.php) is the ps2 disasembly guide.

seems to me like a cable came unplugged. hows the drive tray working?
