View Full Version : Power Stone 2 help
I need the non-selfboot 1ST_READ.BIN and IP.bin for Power Stone 2. Someone please help. I really need it! If anyone can,
e-mail it to f0rte69@ignmail.com
Thanks in advance.
If none of you can send me the 1SR_READ.BIN and IP.bin, then can you tell me how to make the Selfboot .bin files not selfboot, as in needing a boot disk?

But why do you need to "unselfboot" a game ???
Since the Echelon way of making my games selfboot doesn't work (can't open new session) , I use Bin2Boot. I have decided to put custom music in Power Stone 2. My backup was made selfboot with Bin2Boot, and my non-selfboot copy was destroyed.(not the original!) I am thinking that the easiest way to do this is to burn the plain files with my custom ADX files, but it doesn't work that way because of the Bin2boot process. I need to know how to reverse it. Now that I know how, I am having trouble. Being new at this, I don't know what CD001 is. Is it in the 1ST_READ.BIN? Or the IP.BIN? Or is it in any other files? I have tried searching for it file by file, but I can't find it. What is it?

It's a caracter string. You should find it in all bin files you must binhack. With Windows Explorer, you should find all these files easily (look for *.bin file containing "CD001").
Nope, I couldn't find any CD001 files in the cd. What I tried last was to make an iso with WinIso, and use bin2boot again, but it keeps on telling me that a record for the IP.BIN is not set/found. I'm sure that if I knew how to hack the 1ST_READ.BIN and IP.BIn, I could do this. Is there a tutorial that teaches you how? Or can you tell me?

I've got Echelon's release of Power Stone 2, and I found 4 files CONTAINING "CD001" :
_ 1st_read.bin
_ 2_dp.bin
_ Maigo.bin
_ Sg_dpldr.bin
You must BinHack them all.
To get the original ip.bin, you can use my tool to extract it from a CDI image.
Ok, now that I have those files, how do I hack them?

BinHack them with the LBA your want !!! (0 if you use Bin2Boot)
Ok, now I know what to do. But how do I hack the files? I mean, with binhack, what are the instructions to use it?

In a DOS command window :
_ type "binhack" (you have to be in the right directory, you should find that by yourself)
_ enter the name of the file you want to hack (first time, enter "1st_read.bin", 2nd time "maigo.bin", ...)
_ enter "ip.bin"
_ enter your LBA value
Whoa, looks like I still need your help. Ok, I binhacked the files like you said. Then I put them in my iso file using winiso. When I tried to use bin2boot, It still said that the record of the IP.BIN was not found. At that point I said screw it and burned the plain files with the new .bin files. When I used the boot-disk it was looking like it was working, but then the screen went blank. Also when I tried to binhack the files again, it kept on saying that it was unable to open the ip.bin. What's the problem?

_ Use my tool to extract ip.bin from a selfboot CDI image ("ip extractor"), or copy one from another game.
_ Be sure your set the correct 1st read file in your ip.bin (check that with ipBin4Win; it should be "1st_read.bin).
_ Binhack all our files with LBA = 0.
_ Then, make a ç660 ISO file using the tool you want, including all your files + your hacked bin files + your ip.bin.
_ Then use Bin2Boot.

OK, BUT HE ASKS FOR SOMETHING ELSE.
BOOTSECTOR
MSINFO VALUE
SINCE I'LL USE BIN2BOOT, I GAVE 0 AS BOOTSECTOR AND MSINFO.
IS THAT RIGHT ?
PS: he created a "0" file. what i did wrong ?:(
I'm sorry. I have tried everything you have said, but no luck. I have tried the binhack, is says
Enter name of binary:
I put C:\binfiles\1ST_READ.BIN (that's where it is) Then
Enter name of bootsector:
I put C:\binfiles\ip.bin
Then it asks
Enter msinfo value:
I put 0
then It hacks it
then I repeat with MAIGO.BIN, 2_DP.BIN,and SG_DPLDR.BIN
then I put them in my iso
then I use the bin2boot gui
then bin2boot says that a record of the IP.bin was not found.
If I can't do it, can you just send me the hacked files? That would make it much easier if you did, and I would appreciate it alot.

It has nothing to see with BinHack : it worked.
Try to build your ISO 9660 file using CDRWin.

Are you Tsubaru or RRMC ?!?
Do you have a problem with identity ?
And please, lets caps off...
CDRWin is quite easy to use :
_ choose "File backup and tools" (4th icon)
_ choose "Build an ISO9660 image file"
_ click on "Directory..." to add the directory where you stored your files (ALL the files, including 1st_read.bin, 2_dp... AND ip.bin)
_ click on "Add" to add it to your image
_ UNCHECK "Preserve full pathname" and "Include archive files only"
_ CHECK "Include hidden files", "Long filenames (Joliet)", "Include system files" and "Recurse subdirectories"
_ in "Image filename", enter the name of the image you want to create
_ LEAVE ALL THE OTHER OPTIONS AS THEY WERE
_ click on "START"
You'll get an ISO9660 image.
I'm sure you can do that by yourself.
RRMC is my name. I am not the other guy. I don't type in all caps. Or at least I try not to. Thanks for the help. I'll try the CDRwin method, if that doesn't work, I'll just try Dir2boot. It should work right?
I'm not RRMC. :D
I've just did the binhack way, and didn't work.
I'm tired of wasting cds.
Dir2boot didn't work with me. The boot screen appers, that with Sega blue logo, but stops there.:(
Just like the binhack way did right now.
I've tried Gigawing 2 Echelon. The game dont have a ip.bin, so i've used ip.bin from marvelvscapcom 2 nonboot, to binhack.
bin2boot asked to create a ip.bin, i sad yes.
You know what... I'm gonna sleep now.:o
Thanks, Megalexxx.
NO CAPS. :D
NNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've wasted five CDR disks on trying to do this right. I'm tired of trying. Is custom music really worth five disks? Probably not. Unless someone gives me the five non-boot files I need, I'm calling it quits.

Giving you these files won't help you, since it's exactly what you get after binhack YOUR files ! You will still have to binhack them again and follow Echelon's tutorial !
By the way, I wasted 100s CD trying to make my patching tool. Wasting CDs is the way you learn. ;)
Did you really waste 100 CDs? Damn, you must really like Dreamcast. I guess even though I said I would quit, I'll probably find myself an hour later trying again. The only way I can show my appreciation for making your tools is to use them and keep on trying. Thanks!!! (really, thank you I'm not being sarcastic)
I'm giving up.:o
Dreamcast is for fun, and this fuc* probems with backup it's not fun at all.
For now on, just 1:1 copy backups, nothing else.
Well I'm not giving up. I absolutely must have my custom music!!
Anyways... I got the plain files to work fine with the boot disk. Fine until the game loads. Right before when the CAPCOM logo is about to show, the game freezes. Why is there a problem? Do the custom ADX files need to be the same size as the original ones? Do you have to remove the "read only" properties from the plain files?
Also, I've noticed that when I copy the plain files from the CDR to a new and empty directory, Windows will ask me if I want to replace files with new ones (upon file creation). Why does it do this? The files are different sizes, but they have the same name. Is it possible for two files to exist in the same directory with the same name but with different size? If so, how do you make it happen? Can someone help me one last time?
For example, I'll copy one file named AYAME_1P.BIN and then paste it in a directory, but there will be two files, one is AYAME_1P.BIN, and the second is AYAME_1PB.BIN. And then there is the AYAME_1PB.BIN in the CDR that wants to overwrite the first one. What is up with that? I really need help on this guys. Help would be greatly appreciated.

You can't have twice the same file in the same directory !!!
How would you make the difference ???
YOur custom music might f*** up your game : you must use exactly the same bitrate as the orignal music. Be sure you checked that !
And, yes, I wasted more than 100 CD. I still have about 50 non working CD I keep for comparision and tests.
How do you make your custom music have the same bitrate? Is bitrate the same as sampling frequency?
Sorry to keep on bugging you, but I still need your help. I have been doing this whole custom music thing according to the tutorial on this page:
http://www.angelfire.com/comics/kain_komics/dreamcas.html
(by the way,for those who are looking for it, this website has AFS linker)
And as far as I know, I am doing everything right. The first problem was not getting my game to boot. Now that problem is solved. The new problem is that my Power Stone 2 game freezes at the exact frame right before the CAPCOM logo. The answer probably lies within the fact that when I copy some files to an empty directory, Windows will prompt me to overwrite some files. How can it overwrite files that are not there? The only logical conclusion is that the game CDR has multiple files with the same name that are not displayed by Windows. But then if they are not displayed, why is it that Windows prompts me to overwrite the files if they are not displayed and therefore unselectable?
Excalibur007, you are working on a simular situation. Can you help me out?
