View Full Version : SafeDisc V2 - Need some help please...
Ok, here we go...
I bought a LG GCE8160B burner because a pc-mag
tested it to be safedisc-2 compatible.
Used ClonyXL to detect Safedisc V2 on "Stronghold".
Reconfigured CloneCD 3.0.9.1 to match the suggested ClonyXL Settings.
Result: The Copy even WON´T work on the burner itself, but plays fine in my dvd-rom. Isn´t it normally the other way round? I mean, copy should work in the burner, but not in the "standard"-drives?!?!
So, please buddies, give me the best setup-options for CLoneCD...
Read/Write Speed, how to set the error-detection-flags, subchannel read-mode and so on...
Thnx to everyone!

I would like to know which pc-mag has written that....your burner is NOT safedisc-2 compatible, 'cause of the missing "correct EFM encoding of regular bit patterns" (check at CloneCD home page), BUT if you download the last CloneCD version, you will be able to have perfect safedisc-2 protected games, 'cause of an option (amplify weak sectors) that will allow you to have perfect backups.
Hope that this can help.

PC-Welt says that the burner is EFM compatible. The Elby-Database must be wrong, cause the LG-writer also supports burn proof - and this feature is also not mentioned in the clone cd database.
Hm, yes - downloaded the new CloneCD. Using German language. But where is the "weak-sectors"-option?! Am I to blind to see?!? Please, gimme some hints!
-> Copy of Stronghold works in my DVD and the good old Teac R55S-Writer. So the LG must support correct EFM. But why won´t run the games on the machine? Maybe ATIP-Code?!?
Best regards

where is this phantom week sector enhancer?
The latest versions of SD2 check the atip of a cd to see if it's cdr or pressed silver.
So, it looks like your drive can do sd2, but of course NO writer will be able to play 'em.
Try installing daemon tools and ticking securom and safedisc emulation. That should work.
About the weak sector amplifier...
You must have atleast 3.2.x.x version of clonecd.
First dump (READ) an image with safediscV2 suitable options activeted.
After you're about to WRITE it you can enable WSA from the same location where you can select "purn proof/just link" and stuff like that...
my amplify weak sectors is blacked out how do i use it ?

Weel the weak sector enhancer worked for me. I made a perfect backup of SD2 game with a non sd2 writer. The sony CRX-140E.

It is disabled for UK and USA configured PCs.
The clonecd website is very clear about it.
You have two options. Find and run a proggie called "CloneAMP" before clonecd. (it'll change your windows settings before, and reset them after clonecd)
Or, as I have done, change your windows country to "english (canadian)"
START-SETTINGS-CONTROL PANEL-REGIONAL SETTINGS
easy peasy
