will i be able to rip movies and play them on my dvd player with this dvd burner...and what is the benefit of this burner over the sony DRU-500A (since this has an 8 mb buffer and can write in both dvd formats?) i will be burning ps2 games and ripping and writing some movies...i hope to at least...

and i assume both are good for burning ps2 games...is this correct? pioneer seems to be the choice burner....explain please?!?

I personally have the Pioneer A05 and I use it for EXACTLY what you are wanting to do with yours.... It works perfectly...... As far as being able to write the +R/+RW format..... I have yet to see a use for it......
