pioneer a05 firmware ?

Hi, i'm still waiting on the delivery of my ao5 (komplett.com say's dhl will deliver it to work tommorrow - here's hoping.) I've been reading a lot about firmware affecting the capability & performance of the drive - can anyone elaborate?
More specifically, is there a recommended firmware revision for the a05 that anyone can point me to?
Ah, and a final query - .gi images - primo right? Will any other software handle this format ? I've got a nice split image of haven that i want to try out (obviously i own the original...), yet i've heard in these forums that primo will not recognise my ao5 (i've just got the latest version of primo btw - is this any different?)

The only current firmware available for the A05 is the one that comes with it. So use that. Correct, Primo wont work with your A05 but it comes with RecordNow Max which works just as well as if not better than Primo.

Will record max work with the primo file format - these .gi 's i believe?

Yes, RecordNow Max works with the *.gi file format.

I have knocked up a tutorial on PS2 DVD backup using this software which is available either on my site or as a sticky post in the PS2 Forum of this site.

AAAAAARGGh, gutted!!! just got my a05 , and it doesn't look like it comes with record max!! I get My high speed dvd media, plsu some software called sonic - mydvd video suite , and VOB - instant cd / dvd !! No Record max in sight!! - Totally anoying. Looks like i'm hitting winmx again....

I'll have a look at your tutorial, the more info the better. Ichecked out charlie's (i think) info on all the dvd dye's, ps laser adjustments etc - he knows his stuff. Bottom line is, how long till the laser goes? Do i have long enough until ps 3 comes out... ;))
