I noticed that the newer PS2s are compatible with the DVD +R/+RW format.
I have a DVD +R/+RW burner, but no DVD -R/-RW burner.
My question is, are the PS2s compatible with the +R/+RW format able to play games that are backed up on a +R/+RW, or do the games still have to be in the -R/-RW format?
Thanks,
Derek
V5 and above "should" play the +R/+RW format.....
Its the older PS2's that have a problem with it.....

See if this helps you determine which version you have..Since your in London I'm assuming you have a PAL PS2...
PS2 PAL
SCPH-30002/3/4 v1-3 = 10 Screws on base of PS2
SCPH-30002/3/4 v4 = 8 Screws on base of PS2
SCPH-30002R/3R/4R v4 = 8 Screws on base of PS2 & 2 screws in upper rim of expansion bay
SCPH-30002R/3R/4R v5/v6 = 8 Screws on base of PS2 & 3 screws in upper rim of expansion bay
SCPH-39002/3/4 v7 = 8 Screws on base of PS2 & 3 screws in upper rim of expansion bay

Hi,
I have a DVD+R / +RW drive.
Has anyone got a backup method, step by step and advice on burning software, blank media and recommended modchip for dvd+r +rw and cd-r..
I have scph-30002 R ps2
6+2 concealed screws on base
2 large + 1 small screws in the top interior of the expansion bay
electric shock do not open warning label imprinted into base
I think it's a version 5 or 6 but i'm no expert.
I have tested a dvd+r & rw backup dvd movie and it plays fine on my ps2 without a modchip, will i need a modchip for games only?
Ideally i would like a modchip that allows playing of everythink backed up or imported. Without gameshark or boot disc (if that's possible) if not well i'll have to deal..
thanx in advance,

Use Primo DVD or RecordNow Max for burning your dvd based games....
As you have found out, you don't need a mod chip for backup movies....
You DO NEED a mod chip for backup games...
Get the Messiah 2.... It does EVERYTHING you ask and is the best chip available...
Contact Charlie_PS2 or Dust2Dust about purchasing one.. They can set you up with the M2 no problem.....
