View Full Version : the seventh seal (taiwan game) most protect game ever
hey
i am having a very rough time trying to backup a taiwan made game called "the seventh seal- ressurection of the dark lords"
it has the following protections as told by my taiwan friend:
safedisc 2.xx latest version
securom 4.x
serial key-it checks the cd if it is original or not and then ask to re-enter the cd key
the automenu doesn't come up if you put in bad cd and im sure the install program is also encrypted
-by the way it is not just 1 cd but a collection of 5- my friend tells me that only cd1 is protected though
i tried the following softwares
clone cd latest verson
nero latest version
alcohol 120% latest version using securom 4.x and safedisc 2.8 serttings
winiso (thought maybe worth a try- couldn't even open the iso)
tell me is this even possible- can it not be copied and if it is like this then we are in deep trouble as game companies all over the world will take this as an example and none of the cds could ever be backed up.
i tried a few different cd identifier programs
a few of them said that there was no cd in the drive
a few of them said that there was no protection
some said unknown protection

Its impossible to have Safedisk and SecuROM protection at the same time.
i know it sounds odd but that is what he said
and this guy has been trying for two weeks now to get a solution for this problem
he told me there was sd2 for sure but he also mentioned some other. when i got a hold of the cd i found i couldn't do anything to copy it.
i said i could help him (not very bright thing to do huh)
but i think its impossible
even on the original it takes about a minute for the cd to check if the key and the cd is correct

As i said, its impossible to have Safedisc and SecuROM on a CD at the same time.
Try this (http://forum.alcohol-software.com/index.php?act=Attach&type=post&id=767) to analyze the main .exe and see what it tells you.
when i tell the program to identify the setup.exe protection
it says "Safedisc nor SecuROM was found" i try the dlls and it says "unknown error occured"
what could be the version of the safedisc and the other protections

Tell me your CD writer model.
i dont think it is the problem with my cdwriter as my friends standalone burner(one without com) couldn't even copy it

Liteons are known to be very good ones indeed.
When was the game released?
Which company made it? (whats their website btw?)
its a game from taiwan called the seventh seal. its made by a taiwan company called Soft-world International Corporation
and this game is very very new hardly a month old i would guess
but im surprised that a game made in taiwan (which doesn't have such a huge market) would actually be unable to copy

Have you searched for a crack yet?
since i dont know chinese i cant find anything on this game no crack nothing
but my friend said there is a no cd crack but he wants to backup without the crack. i dont know why
im just worried that if there are games that can't be copied then the game companies win and thats not a good sign
they might use this same protection for the upcoming games like sequels to starcraft, warcraft3, counter-strike, sims etc
i know they want to cut down on piracy but dont they know that the pirates are a lot smarter than the game companies and will fend off any protections that they throw at them
but why do we as consumers suffer from not being able to backup our programs.

If this really is a new kind of protection and it gets used on some more popular games people will find a way to copy it.
Have you tried making an image using Alcohol with SecuROM 4.8 settings and mounting that image?
tried alcohol using securom and safedisc settings burning them on cdrw and when that didn't work i just played it off the alcohol emulator drive
-still didn't work
every time you put the cd in (original or otherwise) it would say "checking disk".
if the original is entered then autorun would startup
if the fake/backup cd is entered it would say wrong cd and it wouldn't run
the install exe is only 36kb and the rest of the files are also pretty short except the main data2.cab file which is 400+mb
if that is any indication of what the protection could be

Can you install the game from the backup?

I tried google but only found useless crap. Meaby i need to rethink my searching methods.
Well then, its obvious why it wouldnt work now.
it wont let me install it wont let me do anything with the backup cd. the autorun doesn't work and its encrypted along with the install setup.exe
finally we are getting somewhere
thanks for the link Vluka
but one thing though

It can't be copied with the existing software.

The only way to make a backup copy is to replace the executable with the unprotected one.
No other way...
are you saying that there is NO WAY that we could copy starforce protected games.
how about in the future....

you just cannot create a working copy of a Starforce protected game as they use special (expensive) media.
use a crack, it's the only way to get around this.
