Hi all. I'm writing cuz I need some help with a disc image I'm creating.

The game is Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds: Clone Campaigns. The game runs perfect, on both disc and ISO except for one small thing- The in-game background music doesn't play. If I run it off the disc, the music plays just fine, but when I use a 1:1 copy and stick the Image in Daemon-Tools, the music doesnt seem to exist. I've tried using CloneCD to create a CCD, and WinISO to create an ISO or BIN, still nothing.

My next bet is to try DiscJuggler, but I figured I'd get your guys' opinion first.

I'm just not sure where I'm going wrong. The Images appear to be 1:1, and the Virtual DVD Drive that Daemon uses should work, it has in the past, and has on other games with such music.

Thanks in Advance guys

Read the daemon tools manual/readme.txt. The answer is in there.

Thanks. but the manual is rather large, and I'm not completely sure what I'm looking for. The Clone Campaigns CD rom is not protected in any way, much less by SecuROM, so I can't use an Image dump to create an ISO. I've tried using Analog and Digital audio, and I don't get results. I'm a tad lost, hence why I'm writing for help.

Im sorry but i cant help you there. I know its in the manual somewhere because i also had that problem a while ago. But i forgot how i solved it.

Lol, ok thanks.

So you're sure its a problem with Daemon Toolz, and not with my ISO?

Yes, since copy protection and all the rest of it work just fine. It is a known issue to Daemon that music isnt played.

i thought this issue has been solved ?
enable "analog audio" in the options menu.

Yes, it has been solved, but you still have to enable something. I think its that analog audio youre talking about.

Ok guys, here's the deal.

Taking Eighty's advice, I scoured the DT website and manual, and tried everything that could work (including Analog Audio), still with no results. Figuring it may not be a problem with Daemon Tools, I use Nero and burn the (supposed) 1:1 copy of the game I had. Upon finishing, I try the disc just as I did the original. The 1:1 copied disk fails to provide the music just like Daemon Tools.

Another development:
According to GCW, Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds: Clone Campaigns ( http://www.gamecopyworld.no/games/pc_sw_galactic_battlegrounds.shtml ) uses SafeDisc v2.40.011 protection. After running the original disc through nearly every CD Protection scanner on CD CopyWorld, and after looking myself for the telltale .TMP files on a SafeDisc CD, I come to the conclusion it isn't a Safedisc CD. For the sake of argument, and to the recommendation of Daemon Toolz support, I use DiscJuggler and create a "working" 1:1 copy of a Safedisc protected game. Oddly enough, during the read process, Discjuggler reports numerous ECM/ECC errors while reading, and eventually finishes with a 709 mb CDI file. I stick this in DT with SafeDisc emulation enabled, and get the same results as before.

So while CD Scanning utilities fail to identify it, I guess I have a SafeDisc v2 protected game. What I'm wondering though, is why I can create a 1:1 copy, and even a Windows Explorer drag 'n' drop copy of the game, with everything still working flawlessly except for the music.

Im very sure its a Safedisc game. I remember unwrapping it using *tadam tadam tadaaa* boolseyes cleaner.

Well if it still doesnt work try the daemon tools support forum or email them. Meaby its a bug they still havent fixed.

I did. He told me to use Analog Audio, and I wrote back saying i did, and it didn't work. He still hasn't gotten back to me.

What method do you guys prefer when making a Safedisc protected game? My burner doesn't support subchannel data though, hence why I use a Virtual Drive

I thought Safedisc didnt need subchan data...

*takes a look at VLukas tutorial*

Nope, no subchan data required, you do however need Correct EFM encoding in order to produce a 1:1 copy.

[EDIT]

Personally i prefer using fixed .exes - but thats just since my burner doesnt even support RAW :(

Oh... ok.

So help me figure this out. The Daemon Toolz Manual states this:

"Meanwhile CloneCD and FantomCD are able to create perfect Safedisc® 2 copies on all recorders you can burn a perfect Safedisc® 1 copy with. The options 'Bypass EFM error' in FantomCD and 'Amplify Weak Sectors' in CloneCD are responsible for a working SD2 copy."

I have never used FantomCD, and I am unable to find "Amplify Weak Sectors" in CloneCD. I have used his graphic tutorial and the pics he uses are of a rather outdated version.

I take it you've copied the game? How did you do it, and did it work? lol

If you right click on a profile and click edit, you will see the settings. But if you use the Game profile it'll be fine. You can also download Clony XXL (http://www.kickme.to/Englishclony) which will help with settings.

AWS doesn't always guarantee you will get a good copy of a Safedisk game.

have you made sure the music is on the disc? i know it sounds stupid, as it shoudl be there.....but nothing else is working either ;)

I prefer using them as well, but the ones offered on Gamecopyworld still don't seem to work. Perhaps I'm doing something else wrong.

I can't remember if my burner supports RAW. It's been so long since I've actually given it a run for its money. I don't think CloneCD supports it tho. It suggests RAW-DAO 96.

Whenever I try burning a CCD image, CloneCD ALWAYS gives me the following message:

Writing to CD Failed ILLEGAL REQUEST: INVALID FIELD IN CDB (5:0x24:0x00)

I would use ClonyXXL, except everytime I open it, it tells me to get an ASPI layer, and the site they offer doesn't work. And half the program is still in german, I'm having trouble understanding it.

What about the other CloneCD frontends?

Alright... finally....

After imaging the disc with Blindread, and burning it with Nero, I've finally made a perfect 1:1 copy. The same problem still remains: Daemon Tools fails to play the music (Analog or Digital Audio Mode). After looking around, I'm curious about one thing- Is Daemon Tools the only Virtual Drive software worth working with? I've heard of Insektors, FantomCD, and even the Nero VirtualDrive manager, but are any of them any better than Daemon?

Again, thanks guys for all your help, you're what makes this board great.

I think Alcohol has a virtual drive thingy, although i have never tried it. But you might wanna give it a shot:

bang bang!!!gotcha!!!just kidding..is this alcohol something like daemon tools?

gh0sth@cker

It's a mixture of Clone CD and Daemon Tools - only it beats both programs at their own game :p
Alcohol can copy SD 2.8 where CCD cannot, Alcohol can offer over 30 (i think) virtual drives compared to the 4 Daemon Tools offers and it can also emulate Securom 4.8

As nice as the program is, it greatly depends on your reader/writer when it comes to a perfect 1:1 copy. I wish I could benchmark my drive to see what it was capable of.

Have a look here (http://elby.ch/english/products/clone_cd/writers/a.html) to see if your drive is listed. You want your drive to have two sheep in the EFM scale and be capable of reading and writing subchannel data. This is about the best you can hope for with a cd-writer now-adays.

Thanks for the link Ghost. I have a 2-3 year old Sony Spressa USB. Hardware tells me its a CRX100E, but the drivers (included with the unit) tell me its a CRX120E. And according to the list, either supports SAO/DAO RAW. I think I can burn in either mode, but I've never had sure-fire results that tell me I have a RAW burner.

And also, as the list reports, my CD recorder is crap, supporting neither SubChannels nor proper EFM handling. I'm more or less concerned with creating perfect BINS to run on Daemon Tools. I create all my images using my CD-Rom, which obviously supports READING of all the stuff i need.
