hi, my friend, who is an electronics tech installed the magic 2 chip for me. However - we've been only able to play ps2 cd backups - haven't tested ps1 backups - but i never play them anyway.

the prob is that it doesn't play dvd movies or anything like that. It did before we chipped it. I haven't burned any dvd backups yet, so i have yet to test it.

what i need is the info on the solder points for the dvd controller. maybe there's something we did wrong.

sad when u got to reply to your own thread. anyways :

1 got everything to boot with the magic 2 chip

cd original
dvd original
cd backups (cd-r)
dvd backups(dvd-r sony)
psx bakcups (cd-r)

but i can't get freggin' dvd video to play. I turn off the ps2 and hit reset. It doesn't autoplay the dvd. I have to hit x to enter and it shows up dvd video in the middle of the screen. so I hit x again - and it looks like i boot it. However, there's nothing on the screen. I must point out that 1 time, i did see the dvd menu - the play, ff, rew, and the chapter number stuff. I had a neo 2.2 chip in mine - so could it be the laser? It boots dvd-r though everytime, first time.

My friend did the chipping, and he did another friends ps2. He didn't have a chip prior to the magic 2 v5. His ps2 works with everything - dvd movies inlcuded.

the grand question is : does anyone know what's up with mine? I tested three dvds btw. same thing.

The correct bot method for DVD Movie is to hold RESET for 2 seconds until the blue EJECT ligh comes on. That tells Magic 2 that this is not a PS2 game over which it needs to act.

ain't this a be-otch. For some reason now - out of the freggin' blue - the fan isn't coming on - so the ps2 is shutting itself down after a couple minutes of being on. My fan works on another ps2 console so it appears to be the motherboard connector.

anyone have a schematic for the fan assembly? is there a point on the motherboard we can solder the fan directly to - and bypass the fan jumper?
