i was wondering if anyone ever found a way around the region protection on the gun?
I have the usa release of Death Crimson Ox which wont work with my gun, however i was wondering if i used the pal fix found on this site, would that change things and let the game use the gun?
Also does anyone know if the pal gun works with the jap version virtua cop 2?
MatKatz light-gun is compatible with NTSC and PAL (60 & 50 Hz systems and games). You might want to check into getting one.

Well due to having no blank cds left i cant tell you if the pal patcher worked.
What i was thinking was though that perhaps using the IPBIN4WIN application you might be able to change that stuff, however looking at the cd imaeg of Death Crimson theres no ip.bin or 1st_read.bin. The only .bin file on the cd doesnt bring up any of the options in IPBIN4WIN like another .bin file does, so i dont know, just thinking aloud.
However if anyone knows if sega put region protection on any other accessories like the mouse or keyboard, id like to know.

I think it's something else.
You surely can't find any ip.bin because your game is selfboot. But there's a way to get it (there's a lot of tutorials around). Anyway, it won't help you : I already tried to change all country checks and "gun" check box. It didn't do anything.
I would be surprised if PAL Patcher worked for that kind of patch : I wrote it, and already tested it for guns problems. :)
I think there's something with TV's display settings. I don't know how guns work, but I think they can get the lines scans and then calculate the right position. So if the refresh rates change, or something like that, it won't work.
But I don't know how they detect your gun at startup...
