Playstaion one copying [Archive]

I have made many attempts to back up my playstation games but without any success. I have used Clonecd to the point where it writes to disc and then crashes with a message: HARDWARE ERROR: TIMEOUT ON LOGICAL UNIT [4:0x3e:0x02]

I have also tried Nero which does burn the disc but will only start to load game and then stop? I read about a suggestion of tipping the console upside down but this does not work eigther.

Would really apprieciate some help as i am a TOTAL beginner.

is your psx chipped or are you using a boot disc? also what kind of burner do you have?
