View Full Version : Help with dummy file
I just d/l sportjam ,it is a 703Mb nero boot image file. The problem that i have is that my burner "Yamam 6x4x16" has a problem and it cant write cds more than ~350 Mb (If i try to copy a bigger file i have a following track error{it is a hardware error} ).I notice that the actual size of the game is no more than 200Mb then i understand that is the dummy file that filing that differce.(I also see that with nero image drive: dummy.dat 467MB).So I have only to solution ,or buy /fixed a cdRw drive or reduce the dummy file. And i want to tell me how can i reduce it or even if i can remake the cd without it (even not bootable cd ,i have utopia)
If your drive won't work on discs larger than 350mb, get a new drive!!!!!
****ALL**** CD Burners, no matter how ancient they are, should burn at least a 650mb, 74 minute CD-R.
If you are only getting a little more than half this without trashing the disc, your drive is garbage and you'll need to replace it.
Most Dreamcast games are going to completely fill up a 74 minute disc (650mb) and some even require an 80 minute disc or larger.
I know that i have to change it and i will ,but not until may.So do any one know how to reduce the dummy file or to remake the cd with out it?If i copy all the files to a temp dir ,howe can i make a bootable cd or a non-boot but readable from utopia?

You don't need any dummy file.
You can follow Echelon's tutorial to remake your CD without this dummy file. It will work fine.
Ok i resolved the prob with echelon's tutorial. Thx Megalexxx
