I posted this question and no one will touch it, Why??

After booting up the PSone with the PSXchange2, then inserting the backed up game, the game attempts to load but the game protection sign appears. I have patched it with a protection patch but this didn't help. How do I overcome the protection.

Thanks

Its a kids game "Crash Bash", the patch is from game copy world "Crash Bash Protection Fix US NTSC".

I saved it to an image with CDRWin, patched it with ppf o matic, it said that the patch was successfull.

CDRWin settings:
RAW
error recovery - ignore
jitter correction - auto
sub analysis - auto

When attempting to play it the protection window comes up, I make several coasters recopying the game and rewriting the patch with different CDRWin settings. No change. Also tried to locate a different patch but wasn't able to find one.

Zedy.... now thats a name from the past! (nice to see your still active.)

boysrus....

CDRWin read setting as Zedy mentioned, leave all settings as default and make sure the RAW box is checked. Wite settings are again left as default.

What media and burner are you using?

I did try the abort setting without success, the rewriter I have is a Lite-On LTR-16101 B/C Burn Proof. Is this writer any good?

I have patched one protected game before this successfully. It was "Spyro Riptos Rage"

As you can tell I do for my kids because they have a tendancy to wreck the originals.

I have not had any experience with Lite-on units but as they are working with JVC then i would have thought their units to be reliable.

I would also recommend that you you have a mod chip installed rather that use the PSX-change disc. (far more reliable).

(I've never had any probs with mine)

Thanks for the input!!

I'd heard you can overcome protections by entering codes do you know how its done??

I think you are talking about the Gameshark, but again its not as reliable as a mod chip. (just my own opinion).

Good luck!

I had also heard you could use codes with the PSX change2, I have an email into modchip.ca. Lot a good that'll do. If I find anything out I'll post it. But knowing them I wouldn't hold my breathe.

I was under the impression there was only Playstation one (PSone) and playstation 2. The model # of mine is SCPH 1001 is this not a PSone.

My guess is you've done this stuff once or twice before Zedy, thanks for the information.

Just one other question, how important is the type or quality of CDR used. Is there a general preference among the experienced?

Hi m8ty
Just one thing that has not been mentioned, but are you using a cracked version of cdrwin??
Because i've been informed that the program is heavy protected against piracy, and although it seems to run ok ,it will image the file ok and patch ok but when you come to write the game it will present you with a lovely coaster.
Try using the evaluation version (only runs at 1x) but should give you a better idea wot the problems are.
Or even try using fireburner to write the disc

Oh and just as after thought does you reader support reading sub-channel and writing in raw mode because that could be a prob as well.
Hope this is helpful and if not it should elibminate some of the possibilities.
