Problem With Playstation

I was playing WWF Smackdown and I was going into a match and it said NOW LOADING and then nothing happened for a while so I shut off the playstation and I turned it back on after that it just kept going to the memory card/cd screen what's wrong with it do I need a new laser spindle, laser motor, or do I need a whole new laser reader please help me I have a playstation 1 schp 7001 Thank you

Was this an original or a backup?

Have you checked to see if the laser still tracks the disc?

Is this the only game your having trouble with?

This Is an original I haven't had a chance to make a backup of it all the other games don't load up either I don't know if the laser does anything it just goes to the memory card/cd player screen and the power goes on and everything

we had that prob with the psx the laser went bad we had to buy a new psx it happens from useing cheaper stuff like madcatz we had to buy a new psx we could got it fix cost like 30$ but at the time they not have the eye for it so we just bought a new one

I don't use any cheap stuff I don't think I don't have anything that is madcatz the only thing I have is a dualshock2 controller I have a psx model # schp 7001 and I have tomb raider 3, wwf smackdown, gran turismo, jarret and terry labonte stock car racing and thats all I have a modchip but it's not fitted yet so it's still good and brand new well thanks for the help if there is nothing else

Right,

Try booting your PSX with the lid open and no disc inserted.

Firstly check to see where the laser is, is it half way along its track or right up to the end stop at the spindle end?

To the right of the laser assembly you will see a small round switch resessed into the case, hold this down with a pen and then switch on. If all is well you should see the laser move up and down a few times and if the laser is situated half way along the track then it should return to the centre.

Next try it with a disc in place and check again, this time the laser should see the disc and signal the motor to spin.

(There are 2 motors in the laser assembly, 1 to drive the laser up and down the track and 1 to spin the disk)

yeah we had a performance game pad and it messed the memory card slot up were we could not save and only performance game pads would work in the psx and lil time aftr the psx did like yours

Hey sorry I haven't got in touch earlier LOL but yeah my laser is like stuck to the left and it won't move it's stoped at the spindle end ok whats happening when I push that little button in the corner the spindle spins but the eye of the laser moves up and down and it repeats this step once more then stops or you could say gives up unless you push it again but it doesn't move to the center or anything it just stays stuck to to the left against the spindle thing and also I don't use a performance game pad so I don't think that could be whats wrong I think it's just stuck

Well thanks for all your helps guys you guys are the best at these things I just messed wit hthe little button it was working and so I was like lets try a disc so it worked LOL well thanks can you guys see abou banning this guy or like making sure he can't register no more cuz he is a dumb fuck that is really annoying his name is rr2728knowspuss he is gay and he's stupid well thanks guys peace
