Nearly all of us on the Forum use the Pioneer DVR A03.

www.scan.co.uk there will be others. Just search the web

Best writter to get is the Panasonic -A03, I've seen them on the internet (UK sites) for around £350 inc VAT (Search Yahoo becasue I can't remeber the site).

The Panasonic will write DVD-R and DVD-RW. Most of the other will only write DVD+RW. The +RW format is Ok if you just want to write the same disk over and over and works with many standalone dvd players. Downside is DVD+RW media is not cheap at around £16quid a disk.

On the other hand DVD-RW is just the same (but done in a different way) and media is around £6quid a disk.

BUT DVD-R is the big advantage.

It works in 90% of standalone DVD players and the price is around 2.5quid per disk. The Panasonic will write a full disk (X2) in around 30mins and (1x) take an hour.

Lightning

Charlie, I noticed you use a Yamaha 2100 (Running OPC) What is OPC? Also I was thinking about purchasing a Yamaha 3200E. Would you suggest getting this or something else. Thanks for all your help...

OPC is Optimum Power COntrol, and Running means it does this as it goes. The Yamaha makes as near perfect copies as is possible in conjunction with my post "CD-R Burning Sped".

Personally I recommend the Yamaha 2200. Nothing wrong with the 3200 but it doesn't use OPC it uses a Yamaha variant; might even be better but is not in my experience. You could check this through with Yamaha.
