OK, firstly can your DVD player play VCD discs? Often Iv'e found that some players will play VCD discs - even though it's not listed on the front of the machine.

Secondly, you can assemble clips of MPEG footage and paste them into a program like Nero Burning Rom v5.5 or Easy CD Creator v5 Platinum. You won't be able to do any special effects, and the individual clips will just appear as file names that you simply drag-and-drop into your project.

Now, I'm not 100% sure about this: You need to understand which format you should use for VCD playback, i.e. there are a few file formats such as .DAT and .MPG. When I create a VCD disk, I burn files that are of the .DAT format. Perhaps someone else would like to expand upon this as far as the best, most compatible file format to use? A couple of VCD disc's Ive purchashed have also had a scence slection page much like you get on a DVD, but I'm not sure how you go about creating this.

There's a few good programs out there to convert VCD files between different formats. I personally use VCD Gear 2.0 for converting MPEG to .DAT and visa-versa.

Sorry I don't have much more info. Best of luck :-)
