do i need mod chip or enhancer?

Sorry for the lamer question, but must I have a mod-chip or game enhancer to play a game copy?
If not, I would like to copy Madden 2001...can anyone provide a step by step?
(I know, I know, there are instructions galore on this site, but being a first timer it is difficult to separate the wheat from the chaff, if you know what I mean)

the only way you will be able to make a playable copy of a psx game is if you have a mod chip, If you have the newer playstation, you will need to get the internal mod chip, if you have an older version of the playstation that lets you plug a gameshark in the back, then all you will need is the game enhancer, you will have to still do a swap trick with an orignal game if you get the game enhancer... hopes this helps

if you have a mod chip you may still need to patch serton games but with a game aenhancer
there is no need to patch any game to get round anti mod chip protection with a game enhancer all you need to do is enter the codes nessorsery whitch can be fond on several sites and news groops as poited out befor to use such divises you need the older plastions as the newer playstions do not have the i/o port but these can now bee bourt seperatly and bee instorld
