Can anybody help me with Nero 4, I want to back a psx game up with nero. I have used the information on setting up nero and when I try to back up Toy Story which is already a backup game, I can only get so far on the reading of a cd, say 6% and it just holds there for ages and does not seem to go any further, I have left it reading for a couple of hours and it does not go any further. I have my read and write set at 1x. I would like to how long it takes to copy a psx game.

Thanks

Ruskee!

First thing, is the disc badly scratched near the beginning?...if so try reading at full speed, If that works delete image on hard drive and try again with a lower speed until you find a compromise

Does this happen with other software?

The disk that i am copying is very lightly scratched, but I have tried to back up my children's games and the same thing happens but the read process will get to different stages, say 15% and on another game 11% and just hold and the drive is working. The other day I backed up the sims which is a pc game, I had no problem.
I was wondering as well if a game is slightly scratched would this affected the read, the problem is only with psx copying.

try this i copy most of my games using nero 4 and never have a problem .make sure screensaver is off .then use these settings for all the games i suppose it will depend on your writer at the end of the day mine is a creative labsrw 8432e .do not select the fly option.select the following if available in the read options tabbed page
1.read media catalog number and isrc
2. ignore illeagle toc type
3.continue copying
4.data mode 1force raw reading and write uncorrected
5.data mode 2.force raw reading and write uncorrected
6.read audio data with sub channel
7.ignore read errors
8.do not select the use jittercorrection.
i use these setting all the time and do them at full speed i very rarely have a problem..hope this helps have fun

Tried the above and the read just holds at different times say for Toy Story 5% and different times for others, I am starting to wonder if my writer is compatable for writing games(SAMSUNG COMBO SM-304B), it does disk at once. Could I be doing something else wrong or is it just not to be.

The is a way to go, I used the same method. I have a Ricoh cd-r cd-rw 7080A and I have no problems what so ever. Also try using CloneCD. Sometimes I switch softwares. Also On the Blank cds I used the Memorex with the shadded color behide cd. They say the color shadded (blue or greenish color in back of blank cd is best for copieing PSX games. That was my big mistake by buy silver blank cds...hehe
Hop this works
