I've never been to a web site like this and all the terminology and abreviations are "greek" to me. My grandson who has a Playstation has been playing with me when he comes to visit. At times he leaves some of the CD's at home and we don't get to play that one and has even scratched up a couple. I suggested I make a copy to keep at my home so that when he visits we will have a copy ready and if any more get scratched we will have a back up.

I tried to make a direct copy and it didn't work. I was attempting to copy Crash Team Racing and Red Alert. A friend of mine heard what I was trying to do and told me it wouldn't work and that I needed to go to GameCopyWorld and download a good back up copy. I have tried to figure out what is on that site all day and don't have a clue what any of it means or how to download something that may be what I want.

Can someone please explain the terminology, how to find the correct selection(s) I need, and how to download it?

here ya go ya old geezer.

http://megagames.com/psx/psx_cdr_software.htm

that tells you how to back up the games,

go to mod-chip.net & buy an external mod chip (game enhancer), you'll need it to play the copied games.

I'm also new to this arena, I don't understand all the computer jumbo and struggle to copy a protected game. I live in Australia and use the PAL format with a MOD chip. My first effort to copy a game was with Crash Bash and Tony HAwk 2. I am either missing something or am dumb. Can some one spell it out in english exactly what I have to do?
I currently have a HP 9100 Cd writer, I have downloaded a copy of CDRWIN but don't know what to do next.

Thanks in anticipation of an answer.

put the psx cd in your cd-rw drive, start cdrwin, click the third icon on top, it has a cd with an arrow pointing to a white thing (harddrive), this will make a copy of the game on to your computer.
set error recovery to "ignore" & read retry recount to "10"

make sure the cd reader is selected to be the cdrw (you can select it at the top on that window)

it will say "image file name" below that, click the box to the right of that, that has "..."

select where you want to save the cdimage to on your harddrive, name the cd image file (for example "thps2". then click save or okay, or whatever it is. then click start & it will begin reading the disc. after that is completed. close the window, it should take you back to the original cdrwin load up prog.. insert a good quality cd-r (the music one's work well, even tho they say 'for audio use only', horseshit) ..click the first one, has a laser burning a cd.. click "load cue sheet" there should be a file named "thps2", the cue sheet file.. that will load up the cd image file. click "start recording" and the cd image file from your computer will be burned to the cd-r..

granted that your mod chip is installed correctly, the game should work.. good luck
