Now then,
I'm new to 'backing up'. Just bought myself a brand spanking new Plextor 12/10/32a CDrw and I've a copy of CloneCD (version 2.7.8.1).
I seem to be burning so many 'Frisbees' I've moved my waste paper basket to the other side of the room - so I'll get a little enjoyment out of each CD ('cos I aint getting any whilst they are in the playstation).
My problem with cloneCD is one of stuttering FMV sequences, some so bad they freeze the game. Can anyone help?

Cheers,

Thanx for the replies.

But, I wish to use CloneCD because it is supposed to do a 1:1 copy of the original, so that I don't have to rely on patches. Especially when I would like to make a backup of games that don't have working patches (ie FF8 & Spyro 3).

Any help would be appreciated. Cheers.

Seems to me you might be using some cheap disks mate or try putting your psx on its belly for a while when playing the game.or it could just be a bit of shit on the laser eye.i use clone on a tdk cyclone at 12x speed and don't need to patch at all.Sometimes i get dodgy FMV but it comes and goes and its not alot, but it never crashes the game.

Thanx for the reply, Burner Boy

Never had a problem with the CDr's I've used in the past, the games I've used CDRWin & patched have all worked fine, so it can't be the disks or the PSX.

Must be something up with the way I'm using Clonecd?????
- I've unchecked The 'DMA' option in system settings.
- I'm using the recommended settings for backing-up PSX games.
- I can only burn at two speed ('cos Clonecd's unregistered - at the
moment).
AND I'm still burning frisbee's with craped up FMV.

Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers.

Your getting FMV skipping
patches dont fix it, some people talk shit.
You need to get better blanks, verbatims are the best really, try to always use good branded ones silver are shit and often have FMV problems. Dont buy cheap is the secret.
Worst case is that it is your writer, if it write better copies at slower speed then send it back while you can. Plextor are one of the best but I have had one that caused FMV skipping after only one week of use, it happens sometimes even to the best manufacturers.
In the old days we had to write at one speed to prevent FMV but Cd writer were not as good then.
Might also be your reader its unlikely but you might want to try using your writer to read if you have not already.

THE BEST SET UP I THINK IS

PLEXTOR 8/4/32A OR ANY OTHER PLEX WRITER

verbatims / TDK

PSX GAMES- CDR-WIN
PC GAMES- CLONE CD & DETECT (IT TELLS U WOT PROTECTION IS ON THE GAME AND WOT SETTINGS TO USE)
AUDIO OR MP3zz NERO BURNING ROM
