Patch files are not "Text-Readable" files...

Have you uncompressed the files? They will most likely either be compressed with WinZIP or WinRAR (possibly even with WinACE). That will give you a .zip, .rar or .ace extension on the file.

Once you decompress the file(s), there should be a file with ".NFO" extension as well as one with a .PPF extension. The .NFO is a text-readable file - it is your instructions!!! READ IT!

I haven't patched anything for some time, but from what I recall, you have to have APPLYPPF.EXE, the .PPF file and the original release ISO image (.CDI, .BIN or whatever). You would use the following command line (anyone who has done this recently, please correct this if I'm wrong!)

APPLYPPF E-SONICA2.PPF E-SONICA2.CDI

the .diz & .nfo files can be viewed with a program like "Diz&INfo viewer".

However you should still be able to load them into Wordpad or notepad; the important text should still be ligible. Of course, as stated ZIP files are a different story: they are not text data and cannot be viewed as such - some programs like Lotus Smart Suite will actually just give you a small title at the top of the page, mentioning that the file is a Winzip one.

If you need it, email me an I'll post you Diz&Info Viewer. It's about 1.6MB, but with File Splitter Pro I can chop it up into 10 or more pieces and mail them seperatly.

Hope this helps. All the best,

Wayniac :-)
